On July 21, World Meteorological Centre Beijing convened an online technical meeting with operational services of Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), reinforced joint monitoring, forecasting and warning of rainstorm and flooding disasters in Pakistan recently, and carried out technical discussions and exchanges.
Experts from forecasting, climate projection, and information services of PMD made an introduction of recent monsoon, rainfall and floods in Pakistan. And specialists from operational services of the China Meteorological Administration (CMA) shared their insights on topics like preliminary analysis of heavy rainfall over Pakistan and forecast for the next 2 weeks, rainfall and flood in Pakistan observed from FENGYUN Meteorological Satellite and high-resolution satellite, and seasonal monsoon and precipitation outlook for Pakistan, as well as executing discussions and exchanges on related technic issues.
The participants engaged in in-depth discussions on rainstorm forecast and severe weather forecasting, as well as warning technology.
This remote technical exchange has promoted bilateral technical exchanges on severe weather, and been conducive to jointly improve regional extreme weather monitoring and forecasting capabilities.
